Pain-talk is run by healthcare workers, on a 'not-for-profit' basis, and provides an on-line venue where individuals can share their experiences, ask questions, request help, publicise events, etc. etc.
Since its launch in the autumn of 2003 pain-talk has grown into an active, viable community, proving itself an invaluable resource.
The site has featured in a number of journals, received critical acclaim from a variety of sources and has been nominated for New Statesman Magazine's 2006 'New Media awards'
This work looked at the impact and growing importance of e-democracy and network empowerment. Pain-talk was one of the six examples of on-line democracy studied and was described as '(a) practical example of grass-roots e-democracy at its best'
