Sarah Kellam unveiling Richard Ansdell’s plaque at his former home “The Star Hills”

Starr Hills (built in 1861) by Richard Ansdell, is now a residential home for the elderly belonging to the Methodist Church.
The Blue Plaque was placed on the Lodge at Starr Hills so that it could be easily seen from the road.
The occasion was well-attended to include
- Muriel Hilton (owner of the Lodge)
- Marion Coupe (Chair of Lytham St. Annes Civic Society)
- Margaret Race and Edwin Dawson (granddaughter and son of Alderman Dawson)
- Councillor Paul Hayhurst (Mayor of Fylde)
- Michael Jack (MP)
- Rev. Stanley Pipe (Chaplain to Starr Hills)

“Our Gracious Father, today we are remembering your servant Richard Ansdell. We thank you for his artistic ability in helping us to see and enjoy the wonders of nature. We thank you for all artists who move us to appreciate beauty and life. We thank you for all men and women who use their talents in the service of others . . .”
