MILLENNIUM EVENTS IN WEST BAGBOROUGH
The Millenium stone
The villagers of West Bagborough were as keen as most people to celebrate the new Millenium. Events included a New Years Eve party, along with a series of events over the summer months (such as a summer street party)

In addition to this they were keen to contribute something that would last beyond the year 2000.

The Millenium stone, placed upon the
village cricket pitch contains the inscription:

'The future belongs to those
who give the next generation
reason to hope'

The Bagborough Quilt
Produced by a group of village residents this quilt portrays many aspects of village life - this picture cannot begin to do justice to the quality of this piece, and the work that went into it !!!

The quilt has been displayed at a number of locations over the past months, and now has a permanent secure home in the village church.

Village design statement.
In consultaton with the entire village population a design statement has been drawn up. This looks at the current make-up of out village, and looks at the ways in which future changes may shape the village.

Village pound.
In common with many rural villages West Bagborough has a 'pound' which provided many years service to the local farming community.

Following many years of neglect this has been restored to its former glory.
The Millenium Summer Street Party
Despite their best efforts the village children were unable to burst the bouncy castle at the Summer Millenium celebrations!!
Bagborough Past and Present Exhibition
This highly successful event was organised by John and Jean Gibbs.  This event has its own page on this site.
