I have just returned from a pilgrimage to your lovely village and surrounding villages. My mum was evacuated to Triscombe during the war and went to school in the village hall in 1939 to 1945,sadly she passed away last summer and i felt a great need to trace her steps and put pictures to all the great stories she told my sibblings and i all through our lives. My mum spoke of these times with mixed emotions which is understandable ie homesickness and such, but she totally adored Westbagborough and returned many times in recent years. If anyone has any information or photos or anything to do with these times i would be most greatful. If theres any mention in the village about a minibus full of strange cockneys breaking down for 5 hrs last Friday 25th april it was me

I am an email acquaintance of Sarah Kellam. I had many "conversations" with her in respect to her great, great-grandfather, Richard Ansdell. I have her old email address and I remember she changed it and I can't seem to locate it. I have just acquired another fabulous engraving (colored), titled 'The Scotch Gamekeeper'. It was engraved by F. Stackpoole. Please see that she gets this email so I may reach her at her new email address. I look forward to hearing from her and catching up with her latest goings-on. She is a delight! PS...We Americans are very grateful for your support during this latest conflict in the Middle East. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

About 15 years ago my wife and I had our holiday at bagborough house. It was a great time. We stayed in the corner stable house that was rebuild as a guesthouse. I was trying to find out if the guesthouse still was rented for a holiday, but I couldn't find anything on the site. Eitherway it's still great to find out there was a site about West Bagborough Greetings!

I only just heard about the website, from my brother, James Davison. We lived there from 1963 untill we "fled the nest". Our father was the rector, (Ralph Davison) from 1963 untill 1978. I can't believe there is no Rising Sun! What a tragedy. Will it rise from the ashes?

A very interesting website for a small but important located community. Of special interest to me as my grandparents lived in "Shattocks" with my father being born there in 1930 and they stayed there as a family until 1946 (when they moved to Budleigh Salterton in Devon). My great grandfather and both of my grandparents worked for the then owners of Bagborough House. My grandfather was in the local Home Guard during WW2 and played cricket for Bagborough. Keep up the good work on the web!!!

Hi Glen, Just checked out Triscombe House site. What a sad sight. Also looked at Village Appraisal site. This needs a brief update I think? Telling people about 11th May etc. Well done doing it all. I have sent the website to my stepdaughter in Paris! Am about to send it to Canada too! All the best. Carolyn

I was saddened when i recently heard the Rising Sun had burned down. That was my home for a few years before moving to australia,I have many childhood memories of people, characters and incidents which i happened to be part my growing up. The closing of our little school, to the grazed knees and elbows from cycling down the pub lane on steel rims (no tyres). blowing off hub caps on fireworks night, watching the drunkards wobbling home, to the Skittle matches where i would be quite pissed on cider, that was bought by the players (I was the pin boy) listening to the honky tonk piano being played in the main bar, darts and table skittles, the open fire that warmed my room above the Bar now all but boyhood memories. to friends i had in Bagborough, we had fun, I will remember you all. I hope the pub can be restored

Amazed to find such a comprhensive website of Bagborough when I was looking for Seven Ash. My father was Bagborough's "Bobby" from 1955-68 so I grew up at the Police Station at Seven Ash and have many happy memories of village life including walking across the hedges and fields to the stores (then run by Peter and Nesta Sealy) during the snow of 62-63 when all the roads were blocked.
